Alleviating Poverty Through Science: Donald Danforth Plant Science Center Tour

Poverty fuels instability and conflict. Currently there are more than 173 countries in the world in conflict or at war. Agricultural biological science is an inexpensive and efficient way to reduce poverty and help to stabilize populations. Since 2001 when the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center opened its doors, it has been using biotechnology to efficiently deliver plant sicence solutions to meet the global needs of agriculture and human helath and nutrition. You’ll tour this world-class research facility and hear from Danforth Center scientist, Dr. Claude Fauquet, as he talks about the work of the Center to feed the world’s population and the Global Cassava Partnership that is actively working at improving virus resistance and nutritional qualities of cassava, targeting Africa.
