This weekend, take part in the City Nature Challenge!

It’s here! The 2019 City Nature Challenge is happening all around the world this weekend – April 26-29. This will be the second year that the St. Louis metro area will be competing in the global event, coordinated by iNaturalist to see which city or metropolitan region in the world can document the most species in 4 days. More than 160 cities and metro regions will be competing.

Participation is easy:

  1. Sign up for a free iNaturalist account.
  2. Starting on Friday, April 26 all the way through midnight on Sunday, April 29, take pictures of plants, animals, and other life forms anywhere in the greater St. Louis bi-state region, whether your backyard, local park, or favorite nature spot.
  3. Share your observations on iNaturalist.

That’s it! Help recruit others to join you – friends, family members, colleagues, neighbors, random strangers – the more people participating, the better! Throughout the weekend, you can track our region’s progress at http://tinyurl.com/CNCSTL-19.

For more information and helpful tips for documenting wildlife, visit http://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/sustainability/sustainability/biodiversecity-st.-louis/city-nature-challenge.aspx.

Show the world how much St. Louisans love our local outdoors by documenting biodiversity across the bi-state all weekend. Let’s go!

The City Nature Challenge is organized by Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and California Academy of Sciences.
