ClerondendrumWhat happens when botanists think they have discovered something new to science? Missouri Botanical Garden Associate Curator and plant detective, Peter Phillipson, tells the story of his journey to discover Clerodendrum kamhyoae, a species from Madagascar new to science. Meet the Malagasy landowners whose garden held the discovery; and learn how they and the Missouri Botanical Garden will be working together to learn more about this newly discovered species, and at the same time, improve the livelihoods of people in the local village. The story of Phillipson’s remarkable scientific journey is appropriate for all ages and includes interesting photos from the field.

Discover Madagascar: Plant Detectives is a Special Partnership Presentation of The Academy of Science – St. Louis and the Missouri Botanical Garden.
