Evaluating Environments and Protecting Public Health: How Personal, Physical, and Public Policy Decisions Impact Health in St. Louis
Tuesday, April 14, 2009 @ 10:00 AM-12:01 PM
Event Navigation
Featured Speaker: Michael, Elliott, Ph.D., Research Assistant Professor, George Warren Brown School of Social Work, Washington University in St. Louis
John Donne famously wrote that, “No man is an island.” These words are especially true today as the intersection of our intra- and interpersonal, physical, and public policy environments shape our health. What we believe, what our friends and families believe, where we live, and what rules we follow drive our behaviors and in turn, our health. The field of public health has adopted tools that enable us to visually depict the intersections of these environments and show the impact that they have on our health. Join Dr. Michael Elliott of Washington University’s Brown School of Social Work for a bird’s eye view of environmental impacts on health in St. Louis.
