Featured Speaker: Bernard J. Feldman, Ph.D., Professor, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Missouri – St. Louis and Associate Dean, Joint Undergraduate Engineering Program, University of Missouri – St. Louis and Washington University in St. Louis
Physicist and physics professor, Bernard Feldman shares the physics behind the failure of four bridges: the I-35W Bridge in Minneapolis, the London Millennium Footbridge, the Nimitz Freeway, and the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in this fascinating look at bridge building physics failures. All four of these failures have alternate explanations and all these explanations—correct ones, incorrect ones, and inconclusive ones, involve simple physics that can explain four very complicated events.
