Featured Speaker: Tom Blair, P.E., MoDOT Road to Tomorrow Team Leader and Assistant District Engineer – St. Louis

When our interstate system was created 60 years ago, the world we lived in was different. There were fewer cars on our roads. Trucks carried much lighter loads. Now it’s time to rebuild our oldest interstates but in a way that meets the needs of the future rather than following the designs of the past. For the past year, MoDOT’s Road to Tomorrow initiative has been exploring options, such as smart highways, the Internet of Things, truck platooning, and solar roadways, while also searching for sustainable revenue streams that can fund the transportation system of tomorrow. Missouri Deparsolar-roadways2tment of Transportation engineer and Road to Tomorrow Team leader, Tom Blair, discusses MoDOT’s plans to integrate 21st-century technologies into our transportation system and services.

Presented in conjunction with the Missouri History Museum exhibition, Route 66: Main Street Through St. Louis, on display at the Museum through July 16, 2017.
