Jr. Academy Members, prepare for the Spontaneous Challenge – a tournament of minds! The challenge will be for you and your team to take a small bag of objects, design an experiment with the objects, run the experiments, take your data and write your report in ONE HOUR!!! You’ll have a blast doing
this challenge.
The Spontaneous Challenge will use the same scoring sheet that the Greater St. Louis Science Fair (this can be found at www.sciencefairstl.org ) uses for grades 6-12 (excluding the background and display), and will follow these steps:(1)Problem; (2)Hypothesis; (3)Procedure; (4)Trials and Samples; (5)Results; (6)Conclusions; (7)Reflective questions. You will NOT be provided with this outline at the Challenge.
You can bring: blank paper, a watch or electronic timer, pencils and a ruler. Nothing else can be used, except what is given to you by the Jr. Academy at the start of the Challenge.
Bring a team (4 students per team), or come alone, and we can place you on a team.
