  • Signing up for a 2-3H judging window on the nights of March 9 or March 12, or during the day on March 10.
  • Speaking with 6-8th or 9-12th grade students about their research projects.
  • Evaluating projects and students’ science communication using a rubric.

Regional Division Judge

Regional Division judging is open to all individuals interested in advancing the next generation of scientists. This includes K-12 and higher ed educators, active and retired STEM professionals, and students (high school, undergrad, graduate). Judging can be done virtually or in person.

Judging in the Regional Division includes:

  • Attending a 30-45min virtual judge training.

  • Evaluate projects based on the display board/poster and any display materials (students are not present for judging).

Safety Review Committee

The SRC and IRB of the STL Science Fair have the primary jobs of ensuring that (1) all Honors Division projects are completed safely and ethically and (2) all Honors Division projects have the correct adult supervision and paperwork to comply with international research guidelines. The SRC and IRB meet once a month from September to January to approve projects.

We invite professionals from all scientific fields, but have a particular need for those in biomedical, medical, and behavioral sciences, computer science, and artificial intelligence.

Safety Review Committees are full for the 2026-2027 STL Science Fair.

For more information on serving on these committees in the future, please get in touch with sciencefair@academyofsciencestl.org
