The Regional Divisions of the STL Science Fair welcome students from Kindergarten to 12th grade to explore the world of science. This division is an excellent starting point for students completing class projects, those new to the Science Fair, or anyone who wants to participate without advancing to further competitions.

Divisions & Guidelines

Elementary (K-5th Grade)

Projects can be completed by individuals, small groups (up to 5 students), or classes (more than 5 students). All projects require signed approval from a teacher or caregiver and must adhere to all Science Fair rules. Judging is based solely on the poster board and project materials, as students are not present for judging.

Junior (6-8th Grade)

Projects can be completed by individuals, small groups (up to 5 students), or classes (more than 5 students). All projects require signed approval from a teacher or caregiver and must adhere to all Science Fair rules. Judging is based solely on the poster board and project materials, as students are not present for judging.

Senior (9-12th Grade)

Projects can be completed by individuals, small groups (up to 5 students), or classes (more than 5 students). All projects require signed approval from a teacher or caregiver and must adhere to all Science Fair rules. Judging is based solely on the poster board and project materials, as students are not present for judging.

Only projects that are entered in the Honors Division are eligible for advancement to ISEF, TFJIC, and the State Fair.

Recognition and Awards

We celebrate the hard work of our participants! The top 30% of projects in each division are recognized with award ribbons. Additionally, all projects are considered for a variety of Special Awards sponsored by local organizations and individuals.
